Nuweiba Overview MapNuweiba, a natural oasis, surrounded by the mountains situated next to the attractions of the Sinai, offers the holiday maker looking for relaxation, a once in a life time experience and an interesting atmosphere.

Nuweiba, unlike the city of Sharm el Sheikh, grew naturally. The main income is still not tourism, but the port which offers a ferry crossing between Nuweiba and Aqaba/Jordan. Tourism in Nuweiba is still in the early stages, which can be seen due to the small numbers of hotels.

Nuweiba is situated in a central position in the Gulf of Aqaba, 170 km away from Sharm El Sheikh, 70 km away from Dahab and 65 km away from Egypt's Border city, Taba. It is 465km away from Cairo. The 10km of Nuweiba is split into 4(+1) parts:

Muzena

is the southern part of Nuweiba, inhabited by Muzena Bedouins. The main activities in this area are farming (animals), fishing and of course all Bedouins favorite pass-time: doing nothing. The dolphin "Olin" also lived here, her story is famous around the world. A remembrance has been placed in Muzena, to remind us of her.

Mina

In the port of Mina, you find the large ferry port, ferries to Aqaba leave from here. This section of Nuweiba is where you will also find the coast guard, traffic police and most other large organizations. The bus-station with buses going to Cairo, Sharm, Dahab and Taba is also in this section. You may buy things in the duty free section up till 24hrs after your arrival.

Hotel Area

In between Mina and "Downtown Nuweiba", Medina, There are many hotels, these are all very comfortable, but have the disadvantage of being nowhere near the city.

Medina

Medina is so to speak, the center of Nuweiba. it has many shops, barbers, coffee-shops, a parking area, large trees (!), the police station, the school and the newly built court. Medina however is built up for the average "Egyptian Customer", so don't expect Large Shopping Miles like you would get in Europe or Sharm El Sheikh.

Tarabeen

It all started with the Bedouin village Tarabeen and a blue bus. Back in the day, Hippies landed in Nuweiba in this blue bus, and due to the area being so quiet and nice, they decided to stay and open a restaurant: The Blue Bus. Because of this restaurant, the city started to grow, which reminds us of what Dahab was like a few years back. At approx. 2km length, you can find a large number of restaurants, Bedouin cafes and camps. The Tarabeen Bedouins are friendly and  happy about every guest that visits them, Tarabeen has had to go through a lot since the second Palestinian uproar in Israel, due to the Israeli tourists not visiting Egypt anymore.
