The Blue Hole
is a well known dive site for diving and snorkelling. Every year divers die in the "Blue Hole", and on the way to "Bells" you will find some memorial plaques with their names. In a depth of about 55 meters technical divers will find a cave opening a tunnel into the deep blue of the Red Sea. This dive is potentially dangerous and should only be done by technical divers trained and equipped for this kind of diving!
Much better, and the safest option for recreational diving, is starting the dive in "Bells" and finishing at "Blue Hole". After a 150 m walk in full equipment to the entry of "Bells" you will find a chimney cascading down in several steps, to a depth of about 29 meters. The descent has to be done head first, if you have problems with this, it is recommended to dive outside of the chimney from a depth of 7 meters and follow it outside, where you will meet each other at about 30 meters. With the reef on the right shoulder follow the wall while ascending slowly to a depth of 7 meters. On your way you will find a rich reef fauna and beautiful stone and soft corals.
If you are not able to locate the reef any more, because there are so many Anthias, then at that point you enter "Blue Hole" by turning to your right. On the entry you will have the "Blue Hole" on the right shoulder and the Red Sea on the left shoulder, an unusual experience, like diving between two oceans. In the "Blue Hole" we do our safety stop before leaving at its safe exit.
